The Dan Moi Bass jaw harp is an evolution of the traditional jaw harp of the Vietnamese H'mong mountain people - and the big sister of the Dan Moi Standard - with a deep, humming extra bass. It is very easy to play - you place it against your lips (see instructions). This jaw harp has a rich, full and, above all, deep sound, which can be beautifully varied by blowing, humming, and buzzing. It is handcrafted from brass and comes in a fabric-covered bamboo tube for protection.
The jaw harp is one of the oldest cultural instruments of humankind and captivates with its archaic sound, which suits meditative music as well as driving trance music. It belongs to the drone instruments, meaning its overtone-rich playing is always based on a fundamental tone that always resonates – the simplest form of polyphony.
