The Dan Moi Standard jew's harp is a traditional jew's harp of the Vietnamese H'mong mountain people. It is very easy to play - you place it against your lips (see playing instructions) - and is also suitable for children of school age and above. This jew's harp has a rich, full sound with many overtones, which can be varied beautifully by blowing, humming, and buzzing. It is handcrafted from brass and comes in a cloth-covered bamboo tube for protection.
The jew's harp is one of humanity's oldest cultural instruments and captivates with its archaic sound, which suits meditative music as well as driving trance music. It belongs to the drone instruments, meaning its overtone-rich playing is always based on a fundamental note that always resonates – the simplest form of polyphony.
