BENZOIN SIAM (Styrax tonkinensis), the resin of the benzoin tree growing in Indochina, is one of the most important incenses in Southeast Asia. In India, benzoin is a classic in incense blends. It is a comforting, healing scent for the soul that can gently and sweetly stimulate inspiration. The smoke is quite sharp, too much of it can cause coughing ... interestingly, the resin was used centuries ago as a remedy for bronchitis and colds, as it is credited with antiseptic properties. It is also said to possess magical powers, as a shamanic smoke for shapeshifting. Well, it's all about the dose :) We recommend caution when dosing, a small crumb is enough! Benzoin unfolds its true power in incense blends, where - finely pulverized - it adds a wonderfully warm, vanilla-like scent and can combine very pleasantly with other resins.
