This cotton cloth is densely printed with a paisley pattern and floral tendrils, a classic Indian block print design in blue-ochre on a beige background. Our block print cloths are woven from durable, dense cotton and hand-printed with classic Indian ornaments. Due to the sometimes slightly irregular print, they show a unique vibrancy; each piece is handcrafted and a small one-of-a-kind. Patterns and colors are applied layer by layer, creating ornaments with impressive color depth and complex designs that are allowed to grow – layer by layer. A stamping block, by the way, is about 20 by 20 centimeters in size :)

The technique of printing textiles with wooden stamps is over 4000 years old and originated in the Indus culture. To this day, this traditional craft is primarily continued in small family businesses in Rajasthan. Even the stamps are hand-carved, and the patterns are carefully guarded in each workshop :)
Irregularities in print and color are not flaws but a mark of quality for handmade production :) Each color is stamped individually and carefully layered, creating the multifaceted patterns. Each piece is unique!
