The hinged lid protects against sparks and allows enough air for incensing. The metal pan gets hot, but the solid wooden handle does not conduct heat - so the censer can be carried easily. With this censer, you can wonderfully smoke out your house and yard, just like in ancient times :) ... and also perform an aura cleansing (explanation below). The pan stands stably despite the long handle.

House and aura cleansing - here's how:
Fill the censer pan with sand up to approx. 1.5 cm below the rim, then it won't get so hot. On top of that, you place the charcoal and, after lighting it, your incense. Now move from room to room with gently swinging movements, in a circle and into every corner, so that the smoke can spread well. You can intuitively speak words that flow from you - what do you want to invite, what do you ask to leave? Or sing a soul song, just trust your gut feeling. If the smoke gets weaker and you want it more intense, add some incense. Done? Place the censer in a good place where it can leisurely "smoke out" and don't forget to ventilate. After all, what you ask to leave wants to go out, and what you want to invite wants to come in :)
An aura cleansing is best done with two people. With gentle swinging movements, you move in a circular motion around the person, from bottom to top. Let the smoke find its way in peace. Does the person you're working with want to extend their arms? Then you can smoke the arms, and your incense partner can "take" some smoke with their palms and gently stroke it over their face. Let the smoke rise all the way up again, that creates a good connection :) And always be especially careful when you smoke yourself and other people. By the way, it also works alone by, for example, standing over the censer and carefully turning around and moving the pan with slow movements behind and in front of your body. A soothing, deeply effective ritual!
