Small Deep Lakshmi statue with lamp bowl, made of brass with copper and silver elements - 13 cm high, 300 grams heavy.

The Deep Lakshmi, or Dipa Lakshmi, holds a lamp bowl in her hands - for lighting the flame and as a daily reminder that the goddess of abundance and prosperity is capable of bestowing it - but that it, like light, is transient. So light a lamp in Lakshmi's flame bowl, and enjoy her gifts as long as you can feel them. Even in dark times, Lakshmi can bring you light.

  • Material: Brass, handcrafted, with copper and silver elements
  • The lamp bowl is traditionally suitable for filling with ghee, vegetable oil (and suitable wicks made from cotton).
  • Weight: approx. 300 grams
  • Dimensions: Height 13 cm, diameter between 4 - 5 cm
  • Our product photo is an image of a statue that will be delivered as shown upon order. (Very) small deviations may occur, as the brass statue is finished by hand.

Lakshmi is the goddess of abundance and prosperity in the Hindu pantheon; she stands for happiness, beauty, and love. From her open hands flows abundance... for some, that may be beauty, for others prosperity, mental well-being, harmony... as a kind, benevolent goddess, she grants her followers what they desire, so it is said. But that's how it is with happiness: it cannot be held onto. It is also said of Lakshmi that she does not like to linger... whoever cannot let her go risks her fastest loss. Just as light, the lighting of the flame, is a constant process of becoming and passing away :)

The Deep Lakshmi, or Dipa Lakshmi, is a special representation of the goddess, which probably goes back to her name: Dipa is translated as lamp or light in Sanskrit. In the Indo-Germanic language family, Lakshmi is related to Lucia - the Swedish saint of light, the Latin Lux, the English "luck". And legend has it that Lakshmi prefers to come to the brightest illuminated houses... that is reason enough to light a small lamp for her every day :)
