The sun on this special Easter egg symbolizes fertility and life energy – an ancient symbol in many cultures. We all know the warming, soul-brightening power of the sun: when it returns after long dark days and reawakens plants in spring. The sun egg is decorated all around with beautiful ornaments and features the sun symbol on one side.
Behind this colorful egg lies a millennia-old tradition – and not just at Easter :) Because eggs are a strong symbol of new life, fertility, and rebirth. After all, behind the hard shell lies young life, ready to hatch, protected by that very shell. In our case, symbolized by the light of the candle flame. These eggs are made of rapeseed wax, making them vegan – though not edible :)
- Handmade in our candle manufactory
- Dimensions: Height approx. 7 cm, diameter 4.5–5 cm – about the size of a duck egg
- Weight: 88–90 grams
- Material: Rapeseed wax – renewable raw material, vegan & GMO-free
- All handmade – even the color! The delivered candle may differ slightly in color from our example images. This is due to the varying color reproduction of different monitors and the fact that we still mix our colors by hand and with feeling, so they glow beautifully :)
By the way, the cult of colorful eggs is older than you might think: Even in ancient Greece, they were given and decorated at the equinox as a symbol of the start of a new year. The deceased were given them in their graves as a symbol of resurrection. The egg – the origin of the world – so they said in ancient Egypt. In magical use, the egg stood for powerful protective effects and was walled into houses and bridges – and, of course, eaten.
In any case, the egg carries within it the power of new beginnings, the magic to bring this into the world. And that perfectly matches the transformative power of a candle flame – not just at Easter!
About Rapeseed Wax: Rapeseed wax is the hardened oil of the rapeseed plant, which grows throughout Europe. It is of plant origin, GMO-free, and manufactured in Germany. Our candles are hand-poured – minor deviations are a sign of quality :)
