The delicate white blossoms of the elderberry bush smell wonderfully warm and spicy in spring; when dried, they emit a honey-warm, sweet, and spicy scent that gently envelops you.
An elder bush can probably be found on every farm, and it prefers to choose its own spot :) In ancient folklore, it is associated with Frau Holle, the Earth Mother and her deep powers. A magical tree with the energies of life and death. Its gifts in the form of blossoms, leaves, and bark are therefore used for various applications and rituals. Elderflowers are smoked with as little heat as possible. It's best to smoke them with a sieve burner; for this, you should place them more towards the edge, not directly over the flame, and ensure sufficient distance between the candle flame and the smoking sieve. On smoking charcoal, the blossoms need a heat-insulating layer (e.g., sand) – then they won't burn up as quickly. Mixed with a gentle resin as a base – we recommend frankincense Eritrea – the blossoms will release their scent even longer.
