LABDANUM, the resin of the Cistus rose, transports us with its fragrance into deep, mystical worlds. A scent for traveling in the mind, which can send us far into the depths of the unconscious. It loosens the spirit and opens the senses, making physical experience deeply palpable, a very fine aphrodisiac. It is dedicated to the goddess of love, Aphrodite, and has always been used for perfuming, as well as medicinally. A balsamic, deeply spicy, multi-layered fragrance with a warm amber note that lingers in the room for a long time. It is probably the best-known incense of antiquity.
A small tip for burning incense: Labdanum resin is a rather viscous, sticky mass that is best portioned by placing it in the freezer before burning - then small pieces can be broken off. It is wonderful for making fragrant incense balls, as the sticky consistency holds herbs and other ingredients nicely together. A single burning is highly recommended - the Labdanum scent is deep and complex. Anyone who has smelled this fragrance once will get an idea of what the famous "Pan Aroma" is all about :)
