Cymbals are long and high-pitched sound instruments, used primarily in meditation, sound massage, and devotional singing. Their use dates back a long time in history. As simple rhythm instruments, they accompany traditional ceremonies and folk songs in India and many Asian countries.
Our cymbals are made of solid brass and have a high, soft, slowly decaying sound with many overtones. They are well suited as a wake-up call in meditation, for sensing sounds in sound therapy, for Kirtan singing, and as a simple rhythm instrument.
To play them, hold the cymbals by the leather strap and gently strike the two horizontally swinging sound bodies together. Or, hold one cymbal each by the leather strap between your thumb and forefinger (so that it still hangs loosely) and then rhythmically strike them together.
