WHITE SAGE is an important incense of the Native Americans. The smoke is a prayer, connecting Mother Earth with the Great Spirit. The plant grows predominantly in the southwestern USA and parts of Mexico, where it is harvested.
White sage is atmospherically highly purifying and is used in healing ceremonies, rituals, and for spiritual cleansing – it is one of the strongest energetic cleansing brooms among herbs. The smoke is even said to effectively clear the air of bacteria, thus ensuring a healthy indoor climate. This also helps with concentration and promotes a clear mind.
By the way, our native garden sage serves very similar purposes :) The two plants belong to the same family.
How to use: You can also light individual sage leaves directly for smudging – the smoke will be weaker than with the smudge stick, but still effective, a good smudging for "quick energetic house cleaning." With the glowing sage leaf, you can now walk through the room – possibly holding a small plate, or smudge shell underneath, to catch glowing herbal residues. Now you can smudge the room – moving circularly from one corner to another, you can say a few words with it if you like – and then ventilate well. What needs to go out requires open doors!
